Benito y Lila: Spanish Story For Beginners

picture of the two main characters in this spanish story "Benito and Lila"

Once upon a time, there was a bunny named Benito.

Benito lived in a small forest and always wondered what lay beyond the trees.

His dream was to travel the world.

One day, he decided it was time to explore the world and embark on that very adventure. As Benito walked through the forest, he came across a squirrel named Lila. Lila was very friendly and excited to meet Benito.

She had lost her family years before during what she called “the great deforestation”. Together, they started playing and exploring the forest. They became best friends and promised to accompany each other on all their adventures.

As they kept walking, they found themselves in a desert. They weren’t used to the dry air and sand. So they decided to keep walking.

The next place they found was a beautiful tropical beach, where they ate fish, mangos, and coconuts for the first time. The weather was beautiful, the air was not too dry, nor too humid. The ocean breeze, the wildlife, it all felt like paradise.

But the day came when the fun had to end, Lila was thinking about her family, all that had happened to them… And Benito thought about his family, which was still back home waiting for his return.

They went to the next place, trying to forget about what they had left behind. And again they found a new environment that excited them. They spent 5 days in a city, running around and laughing, spilling the drinks of the humans, and throwing acorns down at them from the trees.

It almost seemed they had escaped their past, when they both got hit with sadness. It took only minutes of looking at each other, and they both knew two things. They loved each other, very very much, but they both needed to return home.

And that’s what they did, paw in paw, they ran like always, but this time in the right direction. Towards love, towards the truth, towards home.

El fin.

The end.
